Franconia-Springfield is located on the Blue Line (Blue Line), one of Washington DC's operational metro corridors. As a terminus station, trains begin and end their journeys here – you'll always get a seat if you board from this end.

The station layout follows the standard Washington DC Metro design – entry gates at street level, ticket counters and machines in the concourse, and platforms accessible via escalators, stairs, or lifts.
