Local Tip
Walk from Al Ghubaiba Metro Station through the textile souk area
Al Fahidi Fort was built in 1787 as a coastal defense post and converted into Dubai's first museum in 1971 under Sheikh Rashid's direction.
Getting here is straightforward thanks to the Green Line. Al Ghubaiba station puts you within walking distance, and the 12-minute walk is easy enough for most visitors.
While you're in the area, consider checking out Textile Souk and Al Fahidi Historical District – they're near the same metro station and can easily be combined into a single trip.
Did you know? Al Fahidi Fort is the oldest existing building in Dubai. It served as a residence, seat of government, garrison, and prison before becoming a museum.
